Report Creator (Advanced Reports)

The Report Creator is the full report-building workspace for creating and maintaining custom reports.

What the Report Creator controls

  • Data source selection (Report Type or Base Table).
  • Field selection, aggregation, ordering, and display naming.
  • Formulas (with validation and AI assist).
  • Filters, advanced filter logic, sort, grouping.
  • Visual configuration for chart-based report output.
  • Save/share/export lifecycle for production use.

Step 1: Choose source

  • Report Type: Use a preconfigured model.
  • Base Table: Build directly from a reportable table.

After source selection, metadata loads available fields, relationships, and formula functions.

Step 2: Build field set

  • Use Fields tab to add fields to the report.
  • Add related fields through relationship navigation.
  • Add JSON-derived virtual fields where available.
  • Use Selected tab to reorder fields (drag), rename, group, aggregate, or remove.
  • Aggregation options include: None, Count, Count Distinct, Sum, Average, Min, Max, Median.

Step 3: Add formulas

  • Create formula columns with return types: Number, Text, Boolean, Date, DateTime.
  • Browse function catalog and insert field references.
  • Validate formulas before saving.
  • Use AI formula assist for draft/refinement help, then revalidate.

Step 4: Configure filters and logic

  • Add multiple filters and choose AND, OR, or ADV logic.
  • ADV supports numbered expressions like 1 AND (2 OR 3).
  • Operators are field-type aware (text/number/date).
  • Relative date operators are supported (for example: this month, last quarter, this year).
  • Each filter can be set as editable or locked for viewers.

Step 5: Set sort, grouping, and totals

  • Apply sort by field and direction.
  • Group rows by selected dimensions.
  • Control subtotals and grand total visibility for table output/export.

Step 6: Configure visuals

  • Supported report visuals: Line, Bar, Waterfall, Pie, Treemap, Spider, Decomposition.
  • Axis visuals support X/Y mapping, metric aggregation, label overrides, date granularity toggles.
  • Bar supports stacked mode.
  • Category visuals support category + measure settings.
  • Spider supports multi-measure selection.
  • Decomposition supports ordered breakdown keys.
  • Legend position control: Hide, Left, Right, Bottom, Top (where supported).

Step 7: Run preview and inspect output

  • Run/refresh preview as you iterate.
  • Review total rows, loaded rows, and table preview.
  • Use table search and progressive row loading for large outputs.
  • In view mode, use viewer filter panel for interactive exploration.

Step 8: Save, export, and manage

  • Save: create new report or update existing report.
  • Export: Formatted XLSX or Plain CSV (max 50,000 rows/export job).
  • Share: assign users/groups with View or Edit.
  • Move: relocate to a different folder.
  • Clone: duplicate into current/target location.
  • Delete: remove report (manage + delete rights required).
  • Favorite: mark for quick recall.
